Customer Rating: Summary: Pleased Comment: I bought this feeder for a friend who has about 10 bird feeders. She loves it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Finch Feeder Comment: A very nice feeder. Finishing putting it together was not
too simple. The pegs and also the bottom tray took some
sanding, etc to get it to fit. Especially the bottom tray
Customer Rating: Summary: Useless waste of time... Comment: Bought this feeder as a gift. The actual bird feeder was plastic at the bottom of the unit and the copper had scratches over most of the metal surface. Unfortunately, never found out how this feeder worked with the birds as the plastic bottom was a defect and did not actually attach. Without the bottom sealing the feed chamber, the feeder would not work. Buyer beware!
Customer Rating: Summary: Only takes thistle seed, clogs easily Comment: Our finches love the feeder but it's a bit of a pain for us. The slot for the seed is extremely narrow, and sometimes other seed finds its way in with the thistle and clogs the feeding holes. After a few days, we notice the seed isn't going down very fast and there's always a piece of corn or sunflower seed blocking the hole. So we've started keeping a jeweler's screwdriver in a nearby shed so we can push the errant seeds deep into the feeder, freeing up the thistle. The price is good, though, and it's solidly made. Just beware that most "finch seed" packages won't work in this feeder; it takes thistle (niger seed) and nothing else.
Customer Rating: Summary: good finch feeder, but...... Comment: This feeder is for thistle, which finches love. They are attracted to the feeder. However, when it rains, the (very expensive) thistle gets wet and clogs the tiny feeder openings and they have to be cleaned with a piece of strong wire or something very small in diameter. Wet thistle is not appetizing to the birds, nor to me. It does not dry out, but clumps and rots. In additon, the feeder is very difficult to clean. If you already own one, may I suggest adding an umbrella baffle. Of course, you could always bring it in before a rain, or hang it under protection.....

Built to attract finches and send pesky squirrels packing, this Top Flight copper finch feeder from Opus is as versatile as it is indestructible. The perches and seed tray on the feeder are both optional. With the perches, you're more likely to attract sparrows, grosbeaks, and blue jays. Without them, you'll see more of the "clinging" feeders--finches, chickadees, and nuthatches. The optional seed tray keeps seed from scattering, but it also encourages larger birds to visit the feeder. If you just want the little guys to come around, try going without the tray. With six feeding stations and a single seed hopper, the feeder fills from the bottom and is reasonably easy to rinse clean. Ready to hang when it arrives, the unit holds 1-3/4 pounds of thistle seed. The warm copper finish is rust-resistant and ages beautifully. --Emily Bedard
