Summary: Used to be decent, now it's pretty much junk
Comment: This used to be a pretty decent music magazine. Not the best that was out there, but still decent. However, Rolling Stone has taken a huge nose-dive in the past ten or so years. I'm not sure I'd even really call it a music magazine anymore. It's more a pop-culture magazine that panders to teeny-boppers. A music magazine's main focus should be music, but RS has over the years started including more and more articles on TV shows, movies, politics, etc and less and less on music...especially less and less on good music. If you want a magazine on pop-culture go with Entertainment Weekly. It, at least, has a bit of taste here and there and doesn't spout off about politics. If I want politics, I'll read the newspaper or watch CNN. I don't buy music magazines for politics. I buy them for music. If you want a good music magazine, this isn't the place to look anymore.

Summary: it's OBVIOUS why RS only charges 50 cents an issue!
Comment: I just recently signed up for RollingStone after my dad was telling me what a good magazine it was back when he was young. Damn, both he and I were shocked at how bad the magazine is. I mean, once and awhile it has some worthwhile articles. But for the most part it's all bullsh**. More than half the artists these guys do articles on are terrible musicians (ie: Nick Lachey, Fall Out Boy, American idol rejects, ect). Also, the political commentary is completely biased to the liberal point of view....that can be a little annoying at times. My point is, the reason RS sells there mag for 50 cents an issue is because thats all it's worth. .50 an issue isn't a deal, at best it's fair. If the price was any higher, nobody would subscribe. So if u have 20 bucks u just wanna waste, maybe check this out.

Summary: I agree with Mainstream's Deadly Foe...
Comment: This magazine company sucks. This magazine sucks. Other than the girl on the front, there's nothing worth looking at in this piece of garbage (or reading). How long ago did Rolling Stone lose their ways? 20 years? 25 years? 30 years? It sad to see such a great company lower itself to the common denominator just to make more money. I've read one of these magazine's before, and it was the most absurd magazine I've EVER read. They gave a 50 Cent album 4 stars and a Genesis album 2 stars! That just screams out why the runners of this magazine are just a bunch of corporate f***'s. Rolling Stone is basically MTV but in print than on screen! Don't buy this magazine! It's a waste of money! Buy any album from the musicians that they trash and avoid any of the "musicians" that they praise. I'd rather listen to a Limp Bizkit album than read this nonsense! You'd probably agree with me.

DEATH TO ROLLING STONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: BRING ME THE HEAD OF JANN S. WENNER!!!
Comment: Why in God's name would anybody read this tripe? As another reviewer has said, it's corporate mass media pretending it's part of the counter culture, aimed at morons too stupid to think for themselves. Before MTV and Crap Channel killed rock n' roll, Stationary Pebble put it on life support. Don't believe what your parents tell you kids, it was poorly written drivel in the 60's, and it's even worse now. Except in the 60's and 70's it was the only way you could really keep up on what was happening in pop culture. Now, thanks to the Internet, it's days are numbered.Us little people, who AREN'T paid by major corporations, get to have our say. And thank God for it.

Summary: Death To Rolling Stone!
Comment: What is this? Oh, It's a magazine that trashes real music, that's what! Who would even think about buying this? Oh yes, it's the skumbags who live on MTV, and watch it six hours a day. MTV has taken over the minds of people who didn't know better, and this magazine is the perfect example. Brataney Sneers and Destiny's Chumps are long dead. I can't believe that people of today actually buy this pathetic magazine. Rolling Stone is a magazine that must be destroyed. Why, because it talks about Mainstream trash, and bashes what music stood for. If you want something to read, then read the works of Giacomo Puccini.

Editorial Reviews:

Founder and publisher Jann S. Wenner's brainchild remains the standard by which rock & roll magazines are measured, though even its most fervent boosters would concede there've been some growing pains for RS as it's strived to remain relevant through the decades. The erstwhile baby-boomer bible mixes fleshy covers of today's alluring celebs with coverage of graying rockers from the magazine's heyday. In addition to celebrity interviews, stalwart features such as CD reviews and Random Notes (the mag's long-running gossip section) provide familiar reading for older readers, as does the publication's superior political and cultural coverage. But the bulk of Rolling Stone's features are aimed at the younger pop-culture set. --Steven Stolder
