Summary: Current Topics
Comment: I have read Vanity Fair for the past twenty years. The articles are timely and in depth. There are articles on politicians, bankers, CEOs as well as the Hollywood types. This is the magazine for those who want to be in the know. Also, the photographs are fantastic. If you are looking for a two paragraph blurb about the actress/actor of the hour, this is not the magazine for you.

Summary: If Vanity is Wrong I don't Want To Be Right
Comment: Let me say straight up, this is a great magazine..it is one of the few magazines that is consistantly good. I have been a subscriber for seven years and I can say without reservations that this is one of the best magazines in print. The contributing writers like, Christopher Hitchens are first rate, I will admit Hitchens is an aquired taste, but he always makes me think..and laugh everytime I read his essay's, whether I agree or not. I also enjoy reading Dominic Dunne's diary, he really does have a great life, and he knows everyone..who's anyone, granted he is a total gossip and a social butterfly, but he knows it, he is in on the joke so to speak. I was afraid the quality of the magazine would suffer when the singular Tina Brown left, but Greydon Carter has continued her steller helmsmanship. I highly recommend this magazine, I really don't know a soul who has subscribed to this magazine that has not loved it..honest.

Summary: People Magazine for Pretentious People
Comment: I'd always heard about interesting articles in this magazine. But the mess of ads and People magazine gossip that lands (with a big, heavy thud) on my doorstep every month is the most worthless magazine I've ever made the mistake of purchasing. It's pretentious tripe aimed at a small group of NYC media insiders, self-regarding movie celebs, and those people who'd like to be part of that world. Even when they occasionally hit on a compelling subject, the writers are so narcissistic as to be truly repellent. It'd be more accurate simply to cut "Fair" out of the title.

Summary: Good for the Beach House
Comment: I find that I can only get into this magazine when I am on a long vacation at the beach. Otherwise, it's just too dense. The writing and photographs are always excellent, but the type is small and the articles are long.

Summary: VAIN UNFAIR
Comment: A self absorbed mag that likes to pat itself on the back for feeling pity for the lower 'folks.' They named Cindy Sheehan in their January 2006 Best of the Best issue for 'best stand!' They are so diluded they think that 'nut'is making an honorable stand-only by using her son's honorable death to serve her ego!
