Customer Rating: Summary: O.k., but I can't get the door open! Comment: Pros: it's really cheap, and has a lot of features (set stride length, calories, clock, backlight, protective door)
Con: the door is really, incredibly, intolerably hard to open. I was adding a dozen steps to the readout just trying to get the door open. I tried to trim the plastic tab, but I took too much off, now the door flops open. It was useless the way it came from the factory, now I broke it and can't use it at all without a rubber band to keep it closed.
Also, I was never able to get a very accurate step-count. I would count 100 steps and usually get 65-90 steps on the readout, though I'm not really sure because I had to shake the thing for a minute or two just to get the door open.
For the price, I think this would be a great deal for someone with the patience to work with it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good but not sturdy Comment: Excellent features, replaceable battery that is easy to find. HOWEVER, the first time I dropped it on the bathroom floor it was toast. So, be careful with it and it will do you well. The only other thing I did not like was that it has an audible "click" with every step. Other people can notice it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to use - even for kids Comment: At this price, we got pedometers for the whole family. My 9 year old son has worn his every day since. It is interesting to see how many steps you take in a day. We did not set the pace length as recommended, but other than that, it is ready to use immediately - just clip it onto your waistband. Shows steps, miles and calories burned. My only complaint is that the front cover is a little hard to flip open.
Customer Rating: Summary: I like it but... Comment: I was really enjoying my Oregon Scientific Pedometer, I found it easy to use and accurate; however, after 1 month it accidentally fell on the floor, and that was it, it no longer works...I will probably buy another one, but it needs to be treated with kid-gloves.
Customer Rating: Summary: Choose a different pedometer Comment: I ordered 24 pedometers for a weight management class that I teach. 3/4 of the pedometers do not work correctly. The majority overestimate steps taken. A few froze and will not work at all. My group is very disappointed in the quality and has requested that I return them. I have used other pedomters in the past for my groups (America on the Move pedometers) and have had no problems.

Oregon Scientific's pedometer is an affordable high-tech fitness tool packed with functions. It's very lightweight (which is great when exercising), and doesn't provide a distraction while the workout is in progress. Though light, it is still very durable, and once it's clipped to a waistband there's no need to worry about it slipping off. It computes and displays distance walked, number of steps taken, calories burned, and time of day--all displayed with backlit illumination of the screen for easy viewing--and measures 2-1/2 by 1-1/4 by 1-1/2 inches. This pedometer runs on 2 LR44 batteries. --A.J. Rathbun
