Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Wish the battery life was longer, but they're great! Comment: Although the length of the runtime is probably due to the inability of the charging circuit to push enough voltage to the batteries, these lanterns work great for solar lights. The runtime improves with more sunlight, so the more light you get, the better runtime you have. My house is at 6500' above sea level, and the sun is fairly intense. Over the summer, my lanterns will run until almost 1AM, far too late to really care whether they're on or not. Over the winter, with the shorter days and less direct sunlight, they don't last as long, but that's to be expected of solar-powered lights. If runtime is your number one concern, buy low-voltage wired lights. You'll get brighter light, and it will run as long as you want, and you'll get more lights for your money. Installation is simple as well (one wire runs all the lights in one set). If you can live with the limitations of solar (longer runtime only over the summer, and on clear days, light not as bright, etc), or you don't want to mess with the wire, these are great lights as solar lights go. We first bought two a couple of years ago, and then purchased two more.. and I've just ordered an additional two for our deck. They are very dependable and blend well with the color of our house, etc. There seems to be no problem with them charging each day with the sun we have received (and there hasn't been a lot of sun lately...) Fine purchase!!! :) Customer Rating: Summary: A nice addition to my garden after 1 year Comment: I bought my lanterns about a year ago...and I still love them. The lanterns illuminate my walkway and garden paths just fine. I especially like the fact the lanterns are portable. They look very nice on my backyard table and I can hang them on my gazebo. Of course, they don't stay lit as long after charging on a cloudy day but just enough. I think the lanterns are a nice purchase if you are looking for a little spot lighting in the garden. If being used to provide safety lighting for a walkway, I don't think these lanterns would be a wise choice. Customer Rating: Summary: Hanging Lantern Solar Lights - 1 Year Later Comment: Pros: The light fixtures are durable, as well as the stake and hook that they reside on. These lights are a nice enhancement to the landscape - that is, during the daytime hours.... Cons: I cannot see the light fixtures at night. In the winter, with shorter daytime hours, the light fixtures last for about 1 hour after being in the sun all day. During the Summer months, with longer daylight, they do stay on until about midnight. Summary: The lights are nice looking and look great during the daytime - and during the 1st couple of hours of twilight. After that, you won't be able to see them until the sun comes up the following day. I purchased 8 of them - and they are consistently as described. It's too bad. I had high hopes!
