Customer Rating: Summary: LaCrosse Rain Gauge works very well. Comment: Over the 2 months I have had the gauge it has performed exactly as expected. Instructions are thorough, if not 100% clear on the first reading (but then it is a piece of technology). I cannot attest to accuracy as I have not cross tested against another gauge though it matches well with the TV weatherman. I am quite satisfied and continue to enjoy following the results of the rain measuements.
Customer Rating: Summary: Unit is as described Comment: Very happy with this item. So far the only negative is when the batteries are removed or replaced you lose all history data. Other wise it is great to view the last six days, weeks, and months.
Customer Rating: Summary: Defective after 6 months of use. Comment: I like the 6 day or 6 week graph. I just hope it could be better constructed. Mine is about 6 months old. Not been dropped. All of a sudden it just stopped working.
Customer Rating: Summary: DONT BUY IT!! Comment: I tried 2 of these. The first one jumped up to 40 inches on the display when it lightninged during a thunderstorm. So i sent it back and the 2nd one did the same thing. Also to change the batteries in the gauge you have to take the gauge off the mount. Not good if its mounted on your roof. So i sent it back and got the wired one. They said the wired one tipped at 1/100th of a inch. It tips at 2/100ths. Oh well. Thats better than Oregons that tips at 4/100ths.
Customer Rating: Summary: Limitations Comment: It is possible that the unit I received was defective, but the advertised range of 80 feet was not achievable. It could get a signal between the rain collector and the monitor within 10 feet, but at that distance you are standing outside and you can SEE it is raining. When you lose the signal the display reads "---" and the only way of re-setting it is by taking out the batteries and going through the set up again. I called the non-toll free "help" line and was on hold for 5 minutes after which the call was transferred to a mailbox that was full and could take no more messages so I returned it.

Gardeners who depend on accurate rain measurements when crafting their watering calendars will delight in the La Crosse Technology WS-7038UF wireless rain gauge, as will amateur meteorologists. The unit employs a TX5U remote gauge that captures rainfall and then remotely transfers the data to the display. Users can view accumulated rainfall for the past hour, 24 hours, or for a programmed period, in addition to monitoring a graph of both historical rainfall, and for a duration of seven days, weeks, or months. Simply scroll through the digitized graph to analyze the rainfall data. If you work inside but need to know the precise moment it starts raining, use the included alarm function, which activates when the first drop of rain falls. The gauge will measure rainfall until you trip the manual reset, though it's programmed to empty all by itself. The unit reads within 1/100th of an inch, and includes a clock that reads in either 12- or 24-hour mode. Hang the display unit on a wall for easy reading, or place it freestanding on a bookshelf or table. The display unit measures 3-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 3/4 inches (W x H x D). --Rivers Janssen
