Summary: Great bargain.
Comment: After reading the reviews of this dress, I ordered a small. I'm a size 6 or 8, and would usually order a medium, but I'm glad I went with the small- it's still a bit loose. It does NOT look like it looks on the model in the picture- it's much looser. But it's a good, casual black dress that I'm happy to have in my wardrobe for such a low price.

Comment: I borrowed this dress from a friend for a trip to Aruba -- it was perfect to throw on for dinner, or over a swimsuit. The fit is great, my husband thought it was sexy, and it makes getting dressed easy. The model in the picture is 38/22/36 -- unless you look like that, your waist isn't going to either. BUT, the dress does go in at the waist much more than the Fresh Produce dresses I have, and it will shrink like t-shirts do after washing. The small is cut to fit a younger shape, not like something at Talbots that is made to hide the years.

Summary: It isn't slinky, but it's a comfy attractive dress
Comment: Despite the sultry model in the picture with her form-fitting pose, this is is essentially a t-shirt dress with a V-neck. It's comfortable, but I think of it as something to wear when I'm tired of jeans -- certainly not for dress-up.
It certainly looks nice, and as the male reviewer's comment indicates, men think it's sexy. (I've had more than a few compliments while wearing it.) The dress _doesn't_ have a tight waist, that's true; but it's well-suited to a standalone belt, so I have no trouble with it. The V-neck practically cries for a pretty necklace, so you'll find that you've gussied yourself up just to go to the grocery store.
I've had this dress for a couple of years -- in fact, I bought a second one in turquoise -- and it looks as good as new. (I wash it in cold on the delicate cycle of the washing machine.) That's pretty high praise for a dress that's an inexpensive as this, so I recommend it.
Because of the success of this dress, I purchased additional items from Newport News; I've found their quality to be highly variable. They're good at unadorned, straightforward clothes (a set of 3 leggings for $10 is adequate, if slightly odd colorwise... but heck, it was only $10!), but I've had less positive response to anything with embroidery or decoration. That's where the low price catches up with you.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Comment: My first and last time ordering from Newport News. The dress looks cute in the picture, but it's pretty low quality. Not only is the waist HUGE the rest doesn't really hit the right places either. It's worth it to spend more for better quality than this.

Summary: still havent received my dress
Comment: i have a big party to go to, thats why i ordered this dress 2-3 weeks ago. the calendar dates said it was suppose to come in on May 5th and amazon says that its suppose to come between may 3-7 and i jus called customer service asking them why hasnt my dress come in yet. they claim it was shipped on april 28 and said it might not get to me til may 19... 9 days AFTER my party. all i can say is that im very disappointed. then to make it worse, they then ask me if i want to speed up the shipping with additional fee. all i can say is... did they even MAIL my dress yet like they said they did? i'll never buy from this company again. next time im better off with macys or nordstrom.
