Customer Rating: Summary: Very Hot Comment: I have had the Big Kahuna for about a year and cook outdoors as often as in. It is very simple, stable and easy to maintain. I had to replace the bulk propane fitting (conector) with a throw-away fitting to attach it to a "T" so I could have it and my grill share a propane tank and work at the same time. My main complaint is the control valve. I wish it was in a more convienent place and that it would adjust at lower settings more easily. This thing is so hot I rarley ever use it past half way hot even on a 18" wok.
Over all though It rocks!

Customer Rating: Summary: Now Our Friends Want One Comment: We've had the Big Kahuna for over a year and now plan to get another one so 2 woks can be going simultaneously. Our friends are so impressed with the cooker that most express an interest in purchasing one.
It's great for parties when you want to precook bratwurst or serve corn on the cob. Much more power than a sideburner on a grill.
Great product, great price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wish I had it 10 years ago when I bought my house!!! Comment: To cook good delicious stir-fry dishes, you only need three things, ie fresh vegetables/meat, good spices and high heat. It had been a long, long process for me to find the third item. To be precise, it has taken me TEN YEARS to find it. Many of my friends had to buy $400~500 high-BTU gas stoves and convert their laundry rooms or basements into supplement kitchens just to be able to cook some good Chinese food. This product beats all those "home improvements". I've had it for a few weeks and have used it many times already. My daughter actually enjoys vegetables now and I actually enjoy cooking them.
The design of the product should get 5 stars, but I gave it 4 because of two things. First, the wok ring on my unit is warped or buckled, so both round-bottom woks and flat pans did not sit on the ring completely stable. I had to do some metal bending myself which was not easy. Second, I have the same complaint as the previous reviewer on the "regulator control valve". The valve does tend to "creep" open a little after you set it at low heat. Before I read the previous review, I also thought this might just be my unit. But overall, this is a great product! As my wife said, this has been our purchase of the year!
Customer Rating: Summary: Outstanding product for woks - but be careful Comment: I just got one of these for wok cooking (most indoor ranges, even the expensive ones, lack enough power for "proper" wok cooking). I like the product a lot and I think it'll be very useful. But, I have one criticism and a word of caution.
First the caution - this burner can produce a -lot- of heat, way more than you probably need for most wok cooking (unless you're using a really giant wok like a 22" or something). I use a 14" cast iron wok, and found that even on a moderate burner setting I could ignite a tablespoon of hot oil. My first time out with this burner, I overheated my wok and actually burned the seasoning right off it. So if you're using this with a wok (as opposed to a turkey fryer or something that truly needs a huge amount of heat), be conservative with your settings until you really have a feel for what you need. I suggest cooking some leftover vegtables or other "throwaway" items once or twice to get the hang of it.
Now, the complaint. I find that if you want to use a relatively low amount of heat relative to what the Big Kahuna can deliver, it's hard to get it precisely set where you want it. At the lower settings, the valve tends to "creep" open a little once you set it. So, you can dial in a low setting, but a few seconds after you let go of the valve it will open up to a slightly higher setting. Now, this may just be my unit, and it may be a break-in issue that will go away over time. But it necessitates extra caution, and a little more work than I think should be necessary to get it set up to where you want it. If it weren't for this I'd give this product 5 stars. With this glitch, it's a solid 4 and I'd still recommend it for anyone wanting a truly powerful outdoor burner.
One other note - I agree with the other reviews that criticize Eastman's suggestion that this is a "go anywhere" product. It's easy enough to move the Big Kahuna around once it's assembled, but if you actually wanted to take it with you to the beach or something, you'd either need a hatchback or you'd need to disassemble the legs, which would be a big nuisance.
