Summary: See it in store before buying it
Comment: I've been looking for a reading lamp for a while now and this one caught my eye in the Sharper Image catalog. On a recent trip to Chicago I decided to go take a look at it at the store and I was VERY disappointed by the quality of the lamp. The post is made of two pieces joined by a ring. The upper part of the post fits only loosely into the ring so that the top of the lamp is quite wobbly. Also, from the picture one would expect that the lamp can be positioned easily using the two hinges. Well, it's not that easy. These are not smooth hinges but hinges with interlocking teeth. So if you want to adjust the position of the lamp you need to loosen two screws almost completely, adjust the lamp to the desired position, and retighten the screws. The light itself had a nice white glow to it, but seemed a little dim. The light can be dimmed from 100% to ~50% intensity. I won't pay that much money for a lamp that poorly built. I'll keep looking...

Comment: I love this lamp. While living in Virginia, I was dragging all the through the winter months. With this lamp in the room, I had no idea it was winter at all! I felt more aware, and perked and up, it's better than coffee!
The lamp lends such a natural, beautiful light to the room; it's a must for anyone in an area prone to gloominess and overcast.
