Customer Rating: Summary: A Great Start for a Home Theater System Comment: This package has it all and it is a great system for beginners. I have a small living room and I did not want to move furniture around or clear a wall. You don't need to rearrange a thing when using this system. Just pull up the screen, plug in your projector and subwoofer and you are ready to go. The 80 inch screen is a great addition in this package. When you are done, you can hide the screen under a bed and hide the projector away in a closet. There are some negatives as it is not HDDVD compatible, and it does not accept component inputs. But most people will simply use it to watch regular dvds or hook up one's own video game system. It is an all-in-one system that is inexpensive and a great introduction to home theater.
Customer Rating: Summary: GET THE EPSON MOVIEMATE, BUY ELSEWHERE Comment: I am victim no.107 or thereabouts. I received the projector and subwoofer but no screen--like nearly everyone else who have voiced their experience, and the hundred some odd silent ones. I have nothing negative to say about the projector and/or subwoofer as they are definitely a great buy (assuming addition of screen) at under a grand. I had the Optoma MovieTime DV10 and the Epson is an all around better product (exclusion of component out is only bummer).
Unfortunately, Amazon repeatedly refused to take responsibility for the fact that the screen did not ship with the rest of the order; they first suggested the shipper was at fault, then they said it was the manufacturers responsibility and suggested I contact them to resolve the issue. The number they provided me with led to a recorded message from Epson that they were no longer offering telephone support on that line. Amazon offered to refund the purchase price but I don't want a refund, I just want the screen. And since the price jumped $200 overnight, I would be at a loss attempting to re-order. At one point I accepted an offer to replace the order (hope was that screen would ship with it this time). I hung up the phone with the promise that a new unit was going to be shipped. The next day I received an e-mail that rescinded the offer altogether, AGAIN suggesting that I contact the manufacturer! After several calls and too much time wasted I received an e-mail that stated the screen was located and would be shipping soon. 3 business days later I have yet to hear from Amazon or shipper.
My advice: Get the Epson Moviemate 25, it's an awesome deal for anyone looking for an entry level theater experience with an easy setup, and portable to boot. JUST DON'T BUY IT FROM AMAZON. BUY DIRECT FROM EPSON.
Customer Rating: Summary: The search for good home cinema ends here!!!! Comment: Just received the Epson Moviemate 25 with free screen last week- the screen is 80' and poor quality. Actually mine was broken but Amazon will send me a replacement. For now I am projecting the image on a big vacant wall in the basement. The quality of this projector will blow you away- it is just like sitting in a theatre- I am rewatching all my favourite movies and noticing so many things I never did although I have seen them many times on my 32' Sony tube HDTV. I highly recommend getting this projector- it is easy, lightweight and portable, economical at under $1000, inbuilt DVD player and speakers/subwoofer-although I do admit sound can be better. There is no need to spend $2-3K for a plasma/DLP/LCD TV - who wants to watch news in big screen- it is depressing enough on small screen. Plus if you have an HDTV tuner/antenna- you can probably connect it to the projector input - although I have not tried it as yet!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great product - Highly recommend Comment: I admit I was a bit worried when I read the review that a buyer did not get the screen delivered. Originally, the projector/subwoofer arrived in a single box without a screen. It was UPS' fault, however, since the screen is delivered in a separate container as a separate shipment (and they returned later that day with the package when they realized their mistake).
The unit is very impressive and we have had many guests come over to watch movies. I like the four different color modes which accomodate different levels of ambient light (from a moderately-well lit room to complete blackness). We have successfuly connected our Xbox and even our video iPod with surprisingly decent results. However, if you wish to connect your computer, you will have to use a computer-monitor-port to S-video/RCA-video port adapter (like Dazzle, etc.).
This product is well worth the cost as I have been looking to create a home theater for over a year and had resigned myself to spend 3x to 5x as much. Besides spending less than I planned, by being portable, the Moviemate has allowed me to show movies in ways I did not original intend. Our kids recently had "movie night" outside with the image shown against the garage door and invited the neighborhood kids.
This all-in-one package has been a delight! I highly recommend the Moviemate 25!
Customer Rating: Summary: Additional Features to consider Comment: I'm very happy with Moviemate so far. I was pleasantly surprised by features not mentioned in other reviews.
- Plays MP3 CDs, 12 hours or more of music on an MP3 CD created on your computer or purchased. The onscreen display is nice and complete, as well as the built-in console display of track information including titles. The onscreen display is easily turned off (even with the remote!) to preserve lamp life turning the unit into a great sounding tabletop music player with sub-woofer and remote that will play all day long.
- Sleep timer. The sleep timer is very useful in "tabletop music player" mode above. The unit can be set to automatically turn off at up to 150 minutes or whenever the program ends in "auto-standby" mode.

One of Epson's newest and most unique solutions for home entertainment is the Epson MovieMate 25 Projector-DVD/Music Player Combo. This multi-entertainment device features a high-quality 480p resolution 3LCD 16:9 widescreen projector with a built-in, multi-format DVD player and self-amplified speakers. Users of all levels can create an exciting big screen experience in their home and other locations (i.e. outdoors, parties, RVs, etc.) quickly and easily without the hassles of connecting various audio/video components. The product's 1,200 ANSI lumens brightness rating makes it ideal for evening and afternoon use. The Epson MovieMate 25 not only enables customers to simply plug in a power cord to instantly project DVD movies, but can also display CD-R/RW videos, JPEG digital photos, WMA video files and more. The product even excels as a standalone music player for listening to traditional audio CDs, CDs with MP3 files, or as a stereo speaker system for external MP3 players. The MovieMate 25's built-in, self-amplified JVC stereo speakers (10-watt x 2) and external 40-watt subwoofer (also included) produce clear, room-filling sound that is ideal for music and/or movies with Dolby Digital/DTS coding. Furthermore, its audio and video inputs make it a fun solution for playing video games, projecting TV shows and sporting events, viewing photos from a digital camera, watching home videos from a camcorder, and more
