Comment: This is a fast and very much a quality machine. The printing is outstanding. I had a problem (scanner defective on receipt) that was repaired under warranty locally.
The instructions for setting up the machine are NOT user friendly. I had to call the service line several times to get help in figuring out how to operate it.

Comment: The printer lives fully up to our expectations. The printing is great including photos. The duplex printing and copying is really nice and although the speed is a bit slow, it's no issue for us since we are using it for home use.

The memory card slots are a nice convenience for downloading photos to our computer. We rarely print photos directly from the memory card without first reviewing them on the computer so we haven't tried the direct printing functions.

We have a single phone line to our house with two phone numbers. Each has a distinct ring. We use one of them for faxes. The Canon fax picks up this distinctive ring just fine and passes calls from the other phone number on to our answering machine.

Our only complaint (though minor)is the instruction manual. It doesn't make it easy to understand how to use the many functions and setup of the machine. I expect that it's written by an expert on the machine who assumes that we, as users, know more about it than we do. It took lots of fumbling to get things set right but once we did, we're delighted with it.

Comment: This is bar-none the best AOI inkjet you can buy. Just look at the reviews. It's a PC Mag editors choice and top pick from every other review I have seen (and I am a review junkie). The true test is getting it home and using it for yourself. This thing is lightning fast. I used to own a lexmark and it sucked! The ink was so freaking expensive. People complain that you can't use 3rd party ink for the MP830. Who cares. Each cartridge is only $12 if you get it on sale. You can replace them all individually so you only have to buy the one that runs out. I work from home and print a ton of stuff on a regular basis (over a 100 pages this morning alone) and have been very happy with the ink consumption and quality. The duplexor and automatic document feeder are a godsend for the home office. The fax works great as well. I can't say enough good things about the machine. The best part is the price! For all the people bitching about the ink (which is 1/3 of the price of lexmark ink) you can buy a boat load of ink with the money you save on this machine vs. an HP with a similar feature set. This is the only consumer electronics product I have ever felt compelled to write a review about. It's truly that good of a printer. Don't even think twice about a different printer. This is the one you should buy! Well unless you are a so broke you can't afford $12 for ink but if that's the case you have much bigger issues in life and should focus on getting a better job instead of writing negative reviews about an awesome product.
