Customer Rating: Summary: Simple concept, but works great...far better than FM adaptors Comment: I've used this cassette adaptor with my Nano in two different vehicles, and it works great. The sound quality is very close to CD; on some tracks it's indistinguishable.
Yes, you will have a cord connecting your iPod to the cassette player, but I have tried several FM transmittors and I can tell you that this unit, at 1/4th to 1/10th the price of a transmittor, will give you better quality sound. (I loved the concept of wireless FM transmission, but I've yet to find a product that gives even 80% of CD quality sound. There is almost always some level of static interference with FM adaptors, and some loss of fullness to the sound). Given the price, you should at least try this adaptor if you have a cassette player in your car and want to use your iPod.
I'm not sure about the problems others have reported with the tape ejecting or making noise, but I haven't had any problems. Those issues could be related to the cassette player itself...
Obviously, the IDEAL solution to listening to your iPod in the car is to have a car stereo system with an input jack to plug directly into...
Customer Rating: Summary: Works great with no grinding Comment: I use this tape player with my Creative Zen Micro in my Lexus RX330. The FM Transmitters I've used were full of static and I didn't like the way they worked.
I had an old Sony tape from the early 90s that made a lot of gridning noises, so I replaced it with this one. Works great; and produces almost CD-quality sound with no grinding or other noises. I've found this is the best way to get your digital music into your car stereo.
Customer Rating: Summary: Big Disappointment Comment: Well I thought I would try using this for my ipod mini, seeing as other wireless FM products were receiving negative reviews. Much to my dismay, this product did a terrible job. The sound was airy, soft, and could hardly be heard, even when using a portable CD player.
Overall, this product was a thumbs down.
Customer Rating: Summary: better than FM transmitter Comment: I started out with a wireless FM transmitter for my Zen Micro and it worked ok on the highway, but the static was unbearable when driving in the city. The sound quality is great with the cassette adapter, although you can hear a low buzz at high volumes. All you have to do to fix this is turn up the volume on your mp3 player, though this does drain the battery faster than at low volumes. All in all, a great product for the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great cassette adaptor Comment: I have an iPod mini and I originally bought an FM transmitter so that I could listen to it in the car. I have had a terrible time with the FM transmitter, bad static! So I tried this cassette adaptor. It's fantastic. No static, no mechanical noises, nothing but great sound. Sure wish I had bought this first, I would have saved quite a lot of money. Terrific product!

The Sony CPA-9C cassette adaptor allows you to connect your minidisc or CD player to a vehicle cassette player. While this Sony product works best with Sony CD and MD players, the adaptor will operate with non-Sony products as well. There are a couple of key features to this adaptor which make it a fine choice. The first notable feature is the spring-loaded head. The head will automatically adjust itself to your vehicle's cassette deck, ensuring that the two heads have optimum contact and transfer the best possible sound. The second key feature is the silent mechanism. A silent mechanism yields less operational noise and a better quality MD or CD sound. This adaptor works with all cassette players which require you to insert the tape opening facing the side. The mini-plug inserts into a portable CD or MD headphone jack. The cassette adaptor is a cheap way to make your vehicle CD and MD operational. What's in the Box Sony CPA-9C Cassette Adaptor
