Customer Rating: Summary: Bosch tablesaw Comment: Excellent saw. Light weight. Like the dust port and soft start. Wheeled cart is OK. Wish it had Dado blade insert.
Customer Rating: Summary: So easy to setup and use - why did I wait so long to get this? Comment: I was going to buy the Ryobi rolling folding saw but decided to ante up and get a high quality saw. I love my Bosch saw and always look forward to doing the occasional rip with it, compared to the loathing I had for my behemoth Cratfsman saw purchased over 30 years ago; I'll give that saw to my son who is now starting his bulding career. BTW; the Sears saw still works great.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good saw - could be better. Comment: When I received the saw, I was surprised that I did not receive manuals. I retrieved electronic versions from Bosch. Assembly and adjustment were well-documented. The riving knife, the zero stop and the 45 degree stop all required adjustment. The "fattest" setting on the zero stop was not quite enough to get it to zero, but a couple of pieces of blue tape made it right. The angle adjustment really requires two people if you are carefully checking the angle. The distance from the blade to the fence was a little greater at the rear of the blade than the front, and that is workable. I may adjust it closer to parallel at some point.
The plastic blade guard is not detachable from the splitter. This is not a great design when you want to cut small pieces. If you are ripping a 3/4" inch piece, you would like to ditch the plastic guard but keep the splitter so you can keep your push stick between the fence and the blade, and have room for your hand. If you raise the blade high enough, you can swing the blade guard up and out of the way, but who wants to run their hand that close to the blade?! There is a nice solution to this problem you can find if you search for "Riving Knife Conversion" on the web.
The fence is really pretty good. The miter guage has some slop in the fit with the slot. The miter guage is adjustable for that in the rear, but not in the front. So for crosscuts of longer pieces, the slop comes into play until the adjustable rear of the miter guage engages the slot.
Dust collection is not too bad if you use a heavy duty dust collector. Your shop vac will not do a great job. The included blade is alright for ripping, but most people will want to install an upgraded combination blade.
I expected plastic, but it surprises me Bosch would use plastic for moving parts (the gears to raise and lower blade). I will just have to wait to see how they hold up.
In spite of these limitations, the saw performs pretty well for most work, and has enough horsepower to run through two inch cherry (slow feed, 1/8" replacement blade, but the cherry did not burn). I've even cut coves on it (very slowly).
Customer Rating: Summary: Portable "cabinet saw" Comment: As a remodeling professional, my tools must be reliable and accurate. After working with other portable saws over the years, I highly scrutinized the saws that were available when I needed to purchase a new one.
The Bosch table saw with the gravity stand is the best there is. I extremely happy with the performance and accuracy of this unit. The only downfall is that I have to beg my crew for chance to use it (and I own it)!
If you want or require the best, don't look any further. Add a dust bag and left side extension and you are set!
