Customer Rating: Summary: Poor quality materials. Comment: I really find these headphones comfortable and inexpensive. I'm not an audiophile but for me, the sound is fine for both audiobooks or music. The problem is the rubber coating surrounding the wires of these headphones are so sub par they tore and then began to disintegrate within a month.
Customer Rating: Summary: I think these are nice for a reasonable price Comment: There are certainly better headphones out there, but for less than thirty bucks I think these are very good. They are extremely comfortable and the sound is excellent. A lot of people have mentioned problems with durabilty, but I have no complaints there so far. Besides I have never had a set of earphones last longer than a year or two anyway, so I don't expect this will be the last set of earbuds I ever buy. If you are looking for a good set of earbuds at a reasonable price, I think you should consider these.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good quality sound, bad production Comment: I agree with the other reviews posted here regarding the functioning quality of these earbuds (high quality sound, plus they fit snugly enough so as to serve as quasi-noise-cancelling), but I have a qualm regarding the manufacturing quality of the device. After less that nine months' usage, the rubber wire casing has frayed off by one of the earbuds, and the exposed sections of wiring are increasing as I use them more. While I wait on a new pair of headphones, I am having to tape over the wiring for lack of any other covering. So, if you use headphones when you go to sleep, as I do in my dorm, or are otherwise rough on your gear, be wary of purchasing these earbuds. The wear and tear over the course of a few months' sleep may just ruin your purchase. If you just use earbuds while you jog or bike or whatnot, these should serve you well, but they did not stand much incidental abuse in my case.
Customer Rating: Summary: MDR-EX51LP White Fontopia Headphones Comment: Good sound quality as long as you fit them correctly to your ears. I had problems with the black & silver set I bought but the white set works great.
Customer Rating: Summary: You can hear every note. Comment: I recieved these headphones as a Christmas present for my new iPod nano and have never used the iPod headphones again since. The Fontopias have super deep and rich bass even when the iPod's EQ is set to the default. I keep mine at Bass booster for an even greater effect.
With the problems someof the people were complaining about, They were not wearing the buds in all the way. You have to have them in all the way to get the good bass and to keep them in. With them in all the way, you also get the outside noise reduction fully. When you have music on at a decent level, you won't notice anything.
Finally with the sound quality. You could literally hear all the sound and notes that are in the music. The lame iPod headphones can't compete at all. The trebel is perfect and the bass is super deep.
You should definately consider these instead of getting ripped off by a higher priced earphone that would deliver maybe slightly better results.
