Customer Rating: Summary: Not Impressed Comment: This clock did not suit my expectations. Yes, it did update the time on it's own and reports the temperature in Northern California properly.
However, the laser is very hard to see, if impossible, until the sun goes down for good. Past 8AM, I have to strain to see the image if it's projected less than 2 feet from the clock. If it's on the ceiling, forget about it!
Plus, they didn't include a constant backlight for the LCD display, so it's all but impossible to know what time it is once the sun starts to rise.
Unless you're awake before sun-up every day, don't waste your money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Low Temperature Inaccurate Comment: This is a great unit for warm climate use. However, I am not satisfied with the accuarcy when the outside temperature is below freezing. The lower the temperature goes, the more inaccurate the sensor becomes where it can be more than seven degrees off at 0.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Clock, Great Price Comment: My brother has the Sharper Image version of this clock, and I wanted something more affordable. This clock is perfect! I actually like it better than his, because it is an atomic clock and automatically updates the time at midnight every night. Our baby sleeps with us and I am not able to move around as much - especially to look at the clock. I can however easily look at the ceiling. It's also great for the daytime when I have the curtains pulled. You can't see it in the regular light, but if it's a bit dark, it works great. It's easy to set up and the outdoor temp in great to have too.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good buy Comment: pros - projects on wall/ceiling, shows indoor outdoor temperature, syncs the clock, got an alarm, snooze, operates on both battery and adapter ... all what u need for a room-cum-travel clock.
cons - connecting the adapter into the clock's socket is a bit inconvenient, the projection does not work in daytime.
Note - I learnt later that they don't use a strong laser (for projection) simply because a stronger laser beam might carry a risk of damaging your eyes, if you (or a child in more probability) looks directly into it. This equipment is therefore safe for your eyes (but that still means you should avoid looking into it) !
